Indian Veterinary Research Institute Izatnagar
The unique feature of this deemed university located in Izatnagar, Bareilly on the Delhi-Lucknow highway, is that it is one of the top research institutions in the field of livestock research and veterinary sciences. Established in 1888, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) had its origin in Pune as the "Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory (IBL)." The Izatnagar campus in Uttar Pradesh came up later on 1913. The administrative control of IVRI was handed over to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1966 and it was recognised as a National Institute. The IVRI now has regional campuses in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mukteswar, Palampur and Pune.

The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) provides bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in more than 20 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences, livestock products technology, basic sciences and extension education. It also conducts various diploma courses as well:
