Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith - MGKVP Varanasi
Set up and inaugurated by the "Father of the nation", Mahatma Gandhi himself in 1921, the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith has been witness to the freedom struggle of India. This state public university has illustrious alumni like the former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indian revolutionary, Chandra Shekhar Azad.
The university has a central library known as Dr. Bhagwandas Central Library as well as hostel facilities for its students. The university actively participates in the National Service Scheme.
