Chaudhary Charan Singh University

Formerly known as Meerut University, the Chaudhary Charan Singh (CCS) University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh has the distinction of being the 1st university in India to introduce the M.Phil. programme in 1969. Established in 1965, the CCS university is spread over 222 acres and has huge playgrounds, fields, a botanical garden, a rose garden and a statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India (July 1979 - January 1980) after whom this university is named.

It has a B+ accreditation from NAAC and offers a variety of facilities for its students like - a healthcare centre, a 1000-seater auditorium, a spacious canteen, internet facilities and a computer centre, a placement cell, women's cell, SC/ ST cell, 7 hostels, gym, wrestling stadium, and various indoor/ outdoor facilities for games.

The universty's Raja Mahendra Pratap Library is known throughout India for its journals, theses and books mde available online.
