Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University

The Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University is a renowned teaching and research institutes and considered as one of the Asia’s best institutes providing higher education and training in Agricultural Sciences and Technology. In addition, the institute also offers training program in many other branches of sciences and engineering and studies in theology.

This institute was started with the relentless effort of Dr. Sam Higginbottom in 1910, existed as an ecumenical institution of the Christian churches and church organizations in India.

Informal training classes started in the Institute in 1912. In 1923 Diploma in Farm Machinery was started, and subsequently a Degree in Agriculture started functioning in 1932, followed by a Degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1943.

One of the basic objectives, as followed by the Institution is “to promote and provide instruction and training in areas of study relevant to Agriculture, Rural Economic Development, Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Animal Health, Human Health, Sanitation, Home Science Management, Community Development, Health Education, Christian Studies and other relevant Sciences, Technologies and Humanities for all round improvement in the quality of life through Deemed University or other campuses, colleges, Institutions of the society within and outside the country.M”

In March 15, 2000 Government of India declared The Allahabad Agricultural Institute as Deemed University. The University has received B accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

At present the Allahabad Agricultural Institute Deemed University offers 28 Undergraduate Programs, 48 Postgraduate programs, 11 Diploma programs, and Doctorates in various disciplines.

Admission Scenario

The Allahabad Agriculture Institute Deemed University offers admission into different courses on the basis of Entrance Test. The test is conducted on all India basis. The written test is administered in relevant subject areas mainly for Under Graduate and postgraduate programs of the university. For course like Ph.D., and theological studies etc the admission is made on the basis of direct interview. The institute announces detailed notification in this regard every year.
