Allahabad Agricultural Institute

The Allahabad Agricultural Institute “Deemed University” is an institution of National Importance for education in general and agricultural education in particular. The institute is well renowned and considered as one of the Asia’s best institute for training in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies. Besides, the institute also offers training program in many other branches of sciences and engineering and studies in theology.

This institute was started with the effort of Dr. Sam Higginbottom in 1910, that time it was an ecumenical institution of the Christian churches and church organizations in India. Informal training classes started in the Institute in 1912. In 1923 Diploma in Farm Machinery was started, then a Degree in Agriculture in 1932, followed by a Degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1943.

March 15, 2000 was a remarkable day in the institute’s history when Government of India declared this institute as Deemed University. The courses offered are recognized from University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi India. The University has received B++ accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It’s an independent organization of UGC for accreditation of institutes.

At present the Allahabad Agricultural Institute Deemed University offers 28 Undergraduate Programs, 48 Postgraduate programs, 11 Diploma programs, and Doctorates in various disciplines.
