UPTU Reservation and Quota

The reservation of seats under various categories and admission under Management / NRIs / Kashmiri Migrants / Foreign Nationals Quota is given below:

Vertical Reservation Category

  • Schedule castes (SC) of UP : 21%
  • Schedule tribes (ST) of UP : 2%
  • Other backward classes of UP : 27%

Horizontal Reservation (Sub category available in each category)

  • Dependent of Feedom Fighters From UP : 2%
  • Sons/Daughters of Defence Personnel of U.P. either retired (superannuated) or killed / disabled in action : 5%
  • Handicapped Candidates belonging To UP : 3%
  • Girls Candidates : 20%

Weightage in UPTU

A 3% weightage of the total marks obtained in UPSEE is provided to general category candidates who belong to rural areas of Uttar Pradesh. Weightage in marks is available to only those candidates who do not claim any other reservation.

Admission Under Management / NRIs / Kashmiri Migrants / Foreign Nationals Quota Seats

Management Quota

  1. All admissions under Management Quota in any of the Govt. or Govt. Aided institution leading to bachelor’s degree program in engineering will be made on the basis of UPSEE.
  2. 85% seats in all the private colleges will be filled through UPSEE. Private colleges can fill 15% seats of the total available under management quota.
  3. The admission procedure under management quota shall be in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

NRI Candidates

5% seats of the total available in different programs (both Govt. and Private Institutions) are reserved for NRI category candidates. Direct admission is made to these seats and candidates do not require appearing in UPSEE.

Kashmiri Migrants

The candidates displaced from the State of Kashmir gets direct admission into first semester of different undergraduate degree programs. The admission is made in accordance with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and UP Govt. guidelines.

Foreign Nationals

  • Admission to Foreign Nationals / Pio’s and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWGC)
  • Candidates under this category need not to appear in the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination- UPSEE.
  • 15 % supernumery seats are available in both Govt. as well as Private Colleges across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh has clear understandings regarding admission of Foreign Nationals, PIO’s and CIWGC’s
