Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC)

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) came into existence on April, 1, 1937, with the main aim of recruiting candidates to various services in the state. The commission  is regulated by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulation, 1976.

Commencing its journey from few rooms of a Secretariat in Allahabad with nearly 10,000 applications at its disposal, the commission has today come a long way. The commission has presently has a camp office in the state capital- Lucknow and disposes over lakh applications every year at its computerized office.

The two spacious examination centres of the Commission at Allahabad and Lucknow cater to around 3000 candidates at a time. With the increase in the work over the years, the numbers of members in the commission too have surged. The commission is looked after by one chairman and 9 members.

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission undertakes following functions

1. Recruitment of the Candidates to the various services of the state through the following procedure:

1. On the basis of Interview only.
2. On the basis of screening test & Interview.
3. On the basis of Examination only.
4. On the basis of Examination & Interview only.
5. On the basis of Preliminary Examination, Main Examination & Interview

4. Service Rules
5. Advice to U.P Government

The Commission consists of a Chairman and 9 members (including secretary). The appointment is made by the governor of Uttar Pradesh in accordance with the provisions in Articles-316 to 319 of the constitution of India.

   6. U.D.A/L.D.A Main Examination
   7. Personal Assistant Examination
   8. Assistant Registrar Examination
   9. Combined State Engineering Examination.

  11. U.P. Nyayic Seva (Junior Division) Examination
  12. Assistant Prosecuting Officer Examination
  13. District Welfare Officer & Child Development Project Officer Examination
  14. Principal, Senior Lecturer, District Education Institute Examination
  15. Supervisor Kanoongo Examination
  16. Peshkar Examination
  17. Superior Forest Examination
  18. Forest Ranger Examination
  19. Screening Test as required
